Cataract is an eye disease. This problem can occur at any age. However, it is commonly found in old age people. It may result from an eye injury or inflammation, diabetes, exposure to ultraviolet rays and smoking.
The problem of cataract may result in decreased, double and foggy vision and difficulty in recognizing colours. Various natural cures are available to treat the symptoms of the disease.
Natural Cures for Cataract
Vitamins
Vitamins contain antioxidant properties which can help in preventing the growth of the eye disease. Vitamin C and vitamin E are good antioxidants. Intake of carrot juice (rich in vitamin A) 2 to 3 times in a day on a regular basis can provide the desired results.
Further, nuts, sunflower seeds, milk, orange, green leafy vegetables, egg and fish can be consumed on a daily basis to obtain the vitamins mentioned above.
Ginger
Ginger is an effective remedy for the disease. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Consumption of fresh ginger (a small piece) on a daily basis may slow down the growth of the problem. Ginger can also be consumed as a part of cooked food items. A natural eye drop can be created with the use of ginger juice (1 tablespoon), lemon juice (1 tablespoon), white onion juice (1 tablespoon) and honey (half tablespoon) and poured (2 to 3 drops) in the eyes with the help of a dropper on a regular basis to obtain effective results.
Dry Fruits
Almonds (4 to 5) can be soaked in water for 6 to 8 hours and chewed after peeling the skin with a glass of warm milk on a regular basis to obtain relief from the symptoms such as decreased and double vision resulting from the problem of cataract.
Daily consumption of a mixture made by blending almonds (6 to 8) and white pepper (half gram) with water can also provide the desired results. Soaked raisins, figs and dates can be mixed together and consumed on a frequent basis.
Pumpkin
Pumpkin is rich in alpha-cerotene which can help in preventing the growth of the problem. The juice extracted from fresh pumpkin flowers can be applied on the eyelids to obtain the desired results. The extracted juice should be kept applied for 15 to 20 minutes to get best results.
Raspberry and Rose
An eye wash can be created by boiling raspberry leaves (2 tablespoons) and rose petals (half cup) in water (2 cups) and used after it has cooled down for washing the eyes several times in a day to deal with the symptoms associated with the problem.
Lemon Juice
Lemon juice can also be used as a natural cure. A cotton ball soaked in lemon juice can be applied on the eyelids to obtain relief from the symptoms of the eye problem.
It is advisable to keep the eyes closed while performing this process. Putting a solution (8 to 10 drops) made by mixing lemon juice and rose water in the eyes with the help of a dropper several times in a day can also provide the desired results.
