Marjoram, Lemon, Orange, Helichrysum and Clove Essential Oils
Marjoram essential oil is highly valued for its analgesic property. It works by relaxing the compressed nerve that helps in reducing the inflammation and pain. Moreover, the warming effect of marjoram essential oil helps in improving blood circulation in the affected area, which helps in reducing the numbness and tingling sensation. Lemon, orange and helichrysum essential oils help in alleviating nerve pain and spasms and are hence considered effective in reducing the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Clove essential oil contains eugenol, an active compound that blocks transmission of the pain signals that help in providing quick relief from pain and discomfort.
How to Make
To make the essential oil blend, add 10 drops of marjoram oil, 3 drops of lemon oil, 3 drops of orange oil, 3 drops of helichrysum oil and 3 drops of clove oil to two tablespoons of carrier oil such as sweet almond oil, sunflower oil or apricot oil. Blend well. Apply the essential oil blend to the affected area several times a day.
Pregnant women should eliminate marjoram essential oil from the essential oil blend.
Lavender, Lemongrass and Rosemary Essential Oils
Lavender essential oil helps in soothing the painful area and aids in relaxing the pinched nerves and muscles. Lemongrass essential oil helps in improving the functions of the connective tissues, ligaments and tendons and helps in alleviating the pain in the wrist. Rosemary essential oil stimulates blood circulation, which helps in reducing the pain and discomfort.
How to Make
To 1 to 2 ounce of carrier oil add 10 drops each of lavender essential oil, lemongrass essential oil and rosemary essential oil. Blend the essential oils with the carrier oil and rub the wrist and hand with the oil blend several times a day.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should eliminate rosemary essential oil from the recipe. Lemongrass essential oil is not recommended for people suffering from glaucoma.
Frankincense, Geranium and Roman Chamomile Essential Oils
Frankincense essential oil helps in providing fast relief from pain. Geranium essential oil helps in boosting blood circulation in the affected area and relaxes the nerves and muscles. Roman chamomile essential oil is an effective remedy for sore muscles. The anti-inflammatory effect of roman chamomile essential oil helps in reducing the swelling and pain in the arm and wrist.
How to Make
To two tablespoons of carrier oil add 6 drops of frankincense essential oil, 4 drops of geranium essential oil and 1 drop of Roman chamomile essential oil. Mix the oils well and apply the oil blend to the painful area of your arm four to five times a day.
Frankincense and geranium essential oils should not be used during pregnancy. Avoid Roman chamomile essential oil if you are allergic to any plant of the Ragweed family.
Eucalyptus, Marjoram and Lavender Essential Oils
Eucalyptus essential oil is a time tested remedy for muscle and nerve pain. The anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of eucalyptus oil are responsible for its pain-relief effect. The combination of eucalyptus, marjoram and lavender essential oils is a popular treatment for carpel tunnel syndrome.
How to Make
Add 10 drops each of eucalyptus essential oil, marjoram essential oil and lavender essential oil to an ounce of vegetable oil. Apply the oil blend on the affected arm several times a day.
Pregnant women should not use marjoram essential oil.
Ginger, Nutmeg and Rosemary Essential Oil
The anti-inflammatory effect of ginger essential oil helps in providing fast relief from pain and swelling. It warms the affected area, which helps in increasing blood circulation and relaxes the stressed muscles and nerve. Nutmeg oil helps in providing relief from pain caused by overuse of the wrist.
How to Make
To two tablespoons of vegetable oil, add 5 drops of ginger essential oil, 2 drops of nutmeg essential oil and 4 drops of essential oil of rosemary. Gently rub the essential oil blend on your arm.
Rosemary essential oil is not recommended for pregnant and nursing women.
