There are various kinds of hair oils available in the market and even your kitchen. Natural hair oils are one of the best options to condition your hair, while getting rid of issues like dandruff. Remember that each hair oil is unique in its own way and reduce dandruff differently. You have to ensure that you massage the oil properly and leave it on for a while for reducing the problem-
Coconut Oil
This is one of the best mediums for combating the problem of dandruff, because it reduces dryness – which is the root cause of dandruff. Also, it contains lauric acid that is a natural antibiotic and helps to prevent the risks of infection. For this remedy, you can take coconut oil on its own or mix it up with a few drops of lemon oil. Then massage it well into the scalp and leave it on. Follow with a hot towel therapy and then wash off.
Indian Lilac Oil
This is a highly antibacterial oil that is known for reducing the problem of dandruff and various forms of scalp infections too. Made from the pure extracts of the Indian Lilac leaves, this oil helps in combatting even the most chronic forms of dandruff. Ideally you just need to take this oil on a cotton ball and then apply it directly on the scalp. Let it stay for an hour or two and then wash off.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Extra virgin olive oil is recommended here because it has higher nourishing properties as compared to the normal olive oil. Also, being cold compressed, it is high on various fatty acids that nourish the scalp from within. Don’t heat the extra virgin olive oil because it kills the nutrients. Just apply it cold and leave it overnight. The next day, you can wash it off using a mild shampoo.
Camphor Oil
This is another natural oil that is easily available and has a strong smell. Camphor oil is rather strong so it is suggested that you mix it up with other oil forms like the coconut or olive oil. Mix a tea spoon of the camphor oil along with 3-4 spoons of any other oil. Then mix it up well and apply. Leave it for an hour and then wash off. Don’t apply any steam or hot towel post this.
Almond Oil
The nourishing properties of the almond oil are known to many because of the rich and high amount of Vitamin it contains, especially vitamin E that aids in skin rejuvenation. You can mix almond oil along with some olive oil or coconut oil and then apply on the scalp. The same can be applied directly too. Just leave the oil on for a few hours followed with steam or hot towel.
Tea Tree Oil
Being high on the antibacterial, anti fungal and anti viral front, tea tree oil is highly recommended for all sorts of dandruff treatments, be it chronic or mild. Ideally, you can use the diluted form of this oil along with any other of the above mentioned oils. If not, you can mix a few drops of the same in your rinsing water and not wash after that. You also can add this oil to your shampoo use.
Sesame Oil
The pungent smell of the sesame oil is known to have an adverse effect on dandruff. It reduces and nourishes the scalp, while providing you with a good riddance for dandruff. Massage on to scalp and leave it on for an hour. Wash off.
Mustard Oil
For using mustard oil, you need to first heat the oil well and then cool it off. It is essential to ensure that the ingredients in the oil are active. You can also heat the oil with some garlic and then apply all over the scalp. It may smell a bit but it sure works in healing dandruff.
Jojoba Oil
This oil is known to contain an ingredient named sebum that is secreted by the sebaceous glands. As a result, it is used intensively in different kinds of cosmetic for reducing dandruff. Just massage scalp with some warm jojoba oil to get rid of dandruff.
Oregano Oil
Oregano is made from the fresh herbs, which are antibacterial in nature. Using oregano oil on the scalp redueces even the most chronic forms of dandruff. Just apply directly on scalp and keep for 2 hours. Wash off then.
Rosemary Oil
Like oregano, rosemary oil too has potent components known for reducing dandruff. It has an active chemical that not only reduce the problem of dandruff, but prevents it from coming back too.
Castor Oil
Being very thick in nature, the oil cannot be often applied on its own. But you can mix it with coconut oil and then massage the scalp. Doing so is known for reducing the problem of dandruff.
