Licorice Root
Hepatitis C and alcoholism are the main reasons for cirrhosis of the liver. The occurrence of cirrhosis can be reduced by the active ingredient found in Licorice. When the liver inflames, ascites occurs as an accompanied symptom.
The diuretic property of licorice helps in inhibiting the buildup of fluids and inflammation in the abdomen.The root of licorice helps in thinning the blood and increases the blood pressure.
Burdock Root
This herb has been used from ancient times traditionally to treat several ailments including liver and kidney issues. It helps in eliminating excess fluids from the tissues. Burdock can be eaten like how we eat carrots or you can make tea by using the dried roots.
Mix one teaspoon of the dried root powder with one cup of water and allow it to boil for ten minutes, after which you just need to filter it and drink about three to four cups every day to decrease the swelling and abdomen fluid. This herb also works as an anti-inflammatory agent and decreases pain, fluid retention and swelling.
Dandelion
Dandelion is a common herb that we grow in our backyard. This herb has medicinal qualities. It is known as a bitter herb. This herb assists digestion and improves the digestive juice production in the liver and pancreas. The inflammation caused to the liver due to cirrhosis is reduced by dandelion.

Milk Thistle
Gall bladder disorders and liver problems have been treated using Milk thistle, or Silybum marianum, for thousands of years. This herb has a milky appearance and hence the name milk thistle. This herb is found throughout the world. Silymarin is an active ingredient in this herb, which possesses medicinal qualities.
This ingredient is a group of flavanoids that effectively help in treating several ailments. It is also a powerful antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory ingredient. These qualities majorly help in the treatment of liver disorders making it a great remedy for ascites.
Apocynum
Apocynum also called apocandle is known to have excellent results in the treatment of ascites especially in cases when the urination is less, dark colored, and constipation is experienced. Take an ounce of water, add about fifteen to thirty drops of decoction of apocynum, and drink one teaspoon every one hour.
If the results are not satisfactory, you can increase the dosage by administering thirty to sixty drops once in every 3 – 4 hours. If you still want better results, you can crush and grind some apocynum root and add it to the decoction and slowly start having it to prevent nausea that might occur.
