Apple Cider Vinegar
A very simple home remedy available for curing hoarseness is to mix half-full glass of water with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in it. Drink this solution every hour for seven hours for about a week to get relief from hoarseness. You can also use the solution gargle every two hours once the severity is slightly less. Apple cider vinegar has anti-septic, anti-biotic, cleansing and healing properties and hence helps to cure the laryngitis by reducing the inflammation and soothing your throat.
Honey And Lemon
A mixture of honey and lemon is very effective to cure laryngitis. Add a bit of honey to hot water and squeeze some fresh lemon juice. Mix it well and allow it to come down to room temperature. Once it comes down to room temperature, drink the mixture.
Do this regularly twice a day for about a week. Honey being viscous soothes the throat over the inflammation and lemon being acidic, cuts through the mucus and hence this mixture will cure laryngitis and the associated hoarseness.
Ginger
Ginger contains rich nutrients like linolenic and alpha linolenic acids, a number of essential oils among which one is citronella and a number of minerals, which gives ginger anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties. You can drink ginger tea once daily to cure hoarseness.
To make ginger tea, peel off the skin and cut a bit of ginger into thin pieces. Boil these pieces in a pot of water until the colour turns tan or yellowish. Sip this hot tea slowly. The ginger tea will reduce your throat inflammation and release the mucus, curing hoarseness.
Onion Syrup
An excellent home remedy to cure hoarseness is to drink onion syrup. To make the onion syrup you have to slice three large onions and put them in four to five cups of water. Simmer this until it turns syrupy and strain it. Now put five to six tablespoon of this syrup in a glass of warm water. Add a tablespoon of honey and a dash of lemon to it. Slowly sip this solution while it is warm to get relief. Onion syrup also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, reducing hoarseness. Drink this solution once daily and twice if the hoarseness is severe.
Turnip
White turnip will also help to cure hoarseness. Take a white turnip and slice them horizontally. Once sliced, add some honey to it and hold them and slice them vertically. Again add some honey to them and tie the pieces with a clean and washed thread, tight enough to hold them in place together.
Leave this bundle for about 12-14 hours in a cup. The turnip and honey syrup will collect in the cup. Take a glass of warm water and add three spoonful of the syrup. Drink this once daily to get remarkable relief.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon helps to clear all type of congestion as it has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The blood circulation in the body is improved and it heals the membrane and tissues present in the larynx. Now to take cinnamon you should boil some water in a pain and then add cinnamon powder to it. Drink this preparation after it becomes warm. You can add honey to it to make it good in taste and honey is also one of the beneficiaries for hoariness of voice.
Gargles With Salt Water
Salt water gargles are very effective to cure the hoarseness in voice. Take one glass of warm water and add two spoon of salt to it. Gargle with it so that water remains in your throat for some time.
