Echinacea capsules are locally available and should be taken 2 times every day to reduce the infection. Herbalists also suggest making a paste of this herb and applying locally on the swollen part of the breast to get relief from pain and tenderness. You can also apply Echinacea tincture on the affected area.
Garlic is a strong antibacterial herb and can treat mastitis. Take 1-2 cloves of garlic and chop them into small pieces. Keep aside for a few minutes. Add honey and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Mix the ingredients properly. Make sure the garlic pieces get covered with honey. Swallow this mixture and do not chew. This mixture along with Echinacea capsules can prevent the pain and also kill the germs.
This herb can be used as an herbal compress to reduce the pain and swelling. Take few calendula leaves and put them into the blender. Add a little water. Take 15-20 dried comfrey leaves and put them into the blender. Add water and blend till they form a smooth paste. Apply this paste 2-3 times daily on the affected area to get relief.
