It is necessary in winter to take extra care of the skin and regularly nourish it to prevent flaky skin. There are several lotions and moisturizers available in the market which nourishes the skin but have chemicals in them. Below are few home remedies if followed regularly leaves behind a soft, smooth and glowing skin.
Coconut oil nourishes the skin deeply and prevents dryness. Warm coconut oil in a container and massage the oil all over your body before going to bed. The coconut oil will be absorbed by the skin throughout the night. Also you can apply coconut oil immediately after bath. This will keep the skin smooth and supple and prevent flakes.
Milk cream is known for its moisturizing properties and is excellent for dry skin. Take 2 tablespoon of milk and add milk cream to it along with few drops of lemon juice. Apply this mix in your body. Let it dry for 30 minutes and wash it off with warm water. This nourishes the skin and leaves behind a glowing skin. Repeat this process at least 2-3 times a week to get a soft skin.
Olive Oil And Almond Oil
Extra virgin olive oil is excellent for the skin and prevents dryness of the skin. Almond oil is known to nourish the skin. Warm olive oil in a container and add few drops of almond oil. Massage the oil all over the body particularly in the dry region. Leave it on for an hour and then take a shower. To this oil you can also add honey and some sugar cubes and rub it on the skin. This will soften the skin and prevent flakes.
This is an excellent mask for dry and flaky skin. This home remedy is good for very dry skin and oily skin people should not try this remedy. Take soft butter and apply it on the dry areas. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and then wash it with warm water. It leaves behind a shiny skin and your skin feels soft and nourished. Also your skin looks slightly oily and glowing.
Egg yolk is rich in proteins and essential vitamins. It hydrates your skin naturally. Prepare a yolk mask by adding milk powder and honey to egg yolk. Mix well and apply it on the dry parts of the body. Let it stand for 20-30 minutes or till the pack becomes semi-dry. Wash it with lukewarm water. It lubricates the skin and keeps you hydrated. Repeat this process at least twice a week for a glowing and nourished skin.
Castor oil is a viscous liquid and must be warmed on the low flame before applying to the body. It helps to remove the impurities from the skin. Gently massage the warm castor oil on the skin in circular motion and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Wipe it off with a clean cloth and the remaining oil is absorbed in the skin. Yogurt is a natural cleansing agent and cleans the skin naturally. Yogurt also has nourishing and moisturizing properties. Aloe Vera does wonders for your skin. Slit a Aloe Vera leaf and extract the pulpy substance from it. Apply this juice in the dry and flaky areas. It prevents irritation and soothes the skin. It has antiseptic properties and hydrates the skin naturally. Repeat this process twice a week to have a hydrated and soft skin.
Gram Flour And Turmeric Pack
Take a tablespoon of gram flour and add a pinch of turmeric powder to it. Add 2 teaspoon of milk and few drops of honey and olive oil to it. Make a smooth paste and apply the paste on your hands, legs, face and neck. Let it stand for 15-20 minutes and take a hot shower. It keeps your skin supple and smooth.
Honey is known as a natural moisturiser. Mix little water with honey and apply on the flaked skin. Keep it on for 30 minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water to have a nourished and glowing skin.
